Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal Polyps

Rhinosinusitis is a disease characterized by inflammation of one or more of the paranasal sinuses. Chronic rhinosinusitis is divided into 2 clinical subtypes: (1) CRSwNP; (2) chronic rhinosinusitis without nasal polyps (CRSsNP). Nasal polyps are inflammatory outgrowths of the paranasal sinus mucosa along the middle and superior meatus that occur primarily in adults. In CRSwNP, NPs are benign and typically develop bilaterally in the sino-nasal cavity.

Treatment of NP includes medical and surgical therapy aimed at either complete elimination of polyps or sufficient reduction in polyp size to alleviate nasal obstruction and associated symptoms. Both topical corticosteroids and nasal saline irrigations are recommended as initial medical therapies in CRSwNP. Intranasal and oral corticosteroids can reduce NP size, lessen sino-nasal symptoms, and improve quality of life. However, the adverse effects of long-term systemic corticosteroid use outweigh their advantages and should only be considered for short- term administration. We are attempting to discover a new medication to help alleviate symptoms with less side effects or surgery. Pediatric Migraine

Pediatric migraine is a neurological condition that affects children and adolescents, often presenting as recurrent headaches accompanied by symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light or sound. Unlike adults, children may experience shorter migraine episodes, and the pain can be bilateral (on both sides of the head).

Migraine in younger populations can significantly impact daily functioning, including school attendance, academic performance, and social development. Despite its prevalence, pediatric migraine remains underdiagnosed and undertreated, and treatment options are more limited compared to those available for adults.

Migraine is believed to involve complex interactions between the nervous system and vascular pathways, including altered signaling in the brain and changes in neurotransmitters that regulate pain and sensory processing.

This clinical trial is designed to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and effectiveness of an investigational treatment for pediatric migraine. The goal is to better understand how this therapy may reduce the frequency, severity, or duration of migraine attacks in children and adolescents.
